What to Expect

Visit a Service

We know that going to a new place for the first time is, by nature, a venture into the unknown. We do our best to make sure that your first visit with us is a positive one. Needless to say, we hope you will visit one of our services on Sunday at 10:00 AM. You meet genuine people who are trying to grow closer to God, people who love God and each other.

First of all, if you plan to attend our Sunday morning service, don’t worry about being over or under dressed. You’ll find people wearing whatever makes them feel most comfortable, whether that be blue jeans and t-shirt, a dress, or a suit. Just come however you feel most comfortable. If you have a Bible, bring that with you. If not, we have Bibles available near each chair.

Parking

Once you arrive, you’ll find parking in two primary spots. Street parking (no meters) is available on Milton Street across from the church and you can come right in the front door and into the meeting area. Additionally, there is some parking in our parking lot on Myrtle Street. If you park here, just come into the back door of our main building. Going up the steps will take you right into the same meeting area.

Our Meeting/Service

Once you arrive, you’ll probably hear some music, be greeted by other church goers, and be given a gift bag with some goodies just for you. Coffee is available in our foyer, so feel free to help yourself and chat with others in the area. Once you arrive in the auditorium, sit wherever you like. If you have children, part way through the service they’ll be directed to either our nursery or our children’s classrooms, where they’ll have activities designed just for them based on their age. If you’d rather have them stay with you that would be just fine, too.

Our meeting will begin with a welcome and songs of praise that include modern choruses and traditional hymns. Communion and other special events like baby dedications might take place during this time as well.  Next, we’ll dismiss the kids to their respective classroom areas.

A message will be given that will expose each of us to God’s word, the Bible. The goal of each message is to share God’s word in a way that is understandable and relevant to anyone who attends. After the message, we’ll close our service with some announcements, a song, and an invitation to give a financial gift. We see this as part of our community’s worship, but we never expect a guest to give.

A Time to Connect

Finally, we encourage you to stick around after the service.  If you haven't already had the chance, this is a good time to meet some folks and get connected.  Some Sundays, we have a time of fellowship downstairs or outside that includes refreshments, and we would love to see you there.  You can also use this time to fill out a Contact Card (included in your gift bag) and put it in the box at the back of the sanctuary.
